About the Item

A square bronze push-pull door handle with a dark brown patina and raised brutalist bark-like pattern. Mid-to-late 20th century, European. This is a heavy piece, made of cast and patinated bronze. There are interesting changing tones from use, from dark brown (brighter in direct light) to warmer highlights along the top edge from years of handling. There are age-appropriate signs of wear, including green oxidation. There is denting to the bracket and a bright ares to the underside which is not typically visible - behind the main plate or in contact with the door -when installed. Installation: The handle is fixed to the door using two bolts which screw into the base of the bracket; fixing bolts are not included. The bracket can be removed and re-positioned recessed under the main plate if required. Although changing tones from handling suggest this was originally used with the bracket on the left (as shown shown in the main image), the design works either way.
