A fine late 19th-century Bohemian amber glass jewelry casket or table box, formed with a hinged domed lid, rounded rectangular body, and patinated metal mounts with latch and hinge. The translucent yellow-amber glass is decorated with finely etched scenic panels, including architectural and landscape motifs rendered in pale frosted contrast against the warm glass body. The combination of amber glass, engraved decoration, and mounted casket form gives the piece the intimate luxury associated with Victorian-period dressing table objects and Continental decorative glass. Research into comparable examples supports a Bohemian attribution, particularly within the late 19th-century tradition of engraved amber, ruby, and colored glass caskets with gilt or patinated metal mounts. Antique French Baccarat Opaline Perfume Casket Box with Four Bottles This opaline perfume casket is formed as an oval box with softly rounded corners and a domed hinged lid. The body is constructed from opaque white opaline glass panels fitted within a continuous gilt bronze framework. The lid opens on rear hinges to reveal a fitted interior designed to hold four square perfume bottles, each topped with a gilt bronze stopper. The interior is organized with a shaped gilt bronze cradle and separators that secure each bottle individually. The exterior mount includes a front escutcheon with a keyhole aperture, flanked by applied scrolling feet at each corner, raising the casket slightly above the surface. A delicate gilt bronze swing handle is mounted at the sides, allowing the casket to be lifted as a single unit. The underside is enclosed with a matching opaline glass panel framed in bronze. The casket is identified as a French Baccarat opaline perfume casket. Baccarat is documented as a manufacturer of opaline glass objects and luxury toiletry items during this period, supplying fitted boxes and perfume sets for domestic and dressing table use. The attribution is based on material, construction, and documented Baccarat production of comparable opaline caskets...
