About the Item

An ostrich egg sculpture by Glyn Lockett with silver brass stem and the applied plaque with coral and seed pearls on buffalo Horn silvered base set with crushed ostrich egg sections, with makers silver monogram. This is a fantastic opportunity to start collecting at the beginning of a collection, all pieces are handmade one off pieces. Glynn Lockett studied art and sculpture, before setting up his own restoration studio where he started to make his own objects using rare and precious materials. Influenced by the great 16th century collectors of ethnographic and natural history artefacts originally displayed in cabinets of curiosities of Kunsthammer, his pieces all using natural and often precious materials, have a both historical and modern twist exploring the symbiosis between the finished artwork and the materials used.
