About the Item

Striking Mid-Century Modern hand-blown glass decanter by the Blenko Glass Company, model 5425, produced during the celebrated design period of Wayne Husted in the 1950s. #5238 This sculptural form features a rounded, gourd-like body executed in clear crackle glass, creating a dynamic, textured surface that captures and refracts light beautifully. The piece is completed with a contrasting deep amber mushroom-form stopper, adding a bold visual counterpoint to the transparent body. The elegant proportions, flared collar, and organic silhouette are hallmarks of Husted-era Blenko design—where modernist simplicity meets expressive hand-crafted artistry. Each example is unique due to the hand-blown process and intentional crackle technique. A highly decorative object that functions equally well as barware or as a sculptural accent in a Mid-Century Modern interior. Circa: 1950s Dimensions: 6.75"D x 9"H Condition: Very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. No chips or cracks observed. Stopper appears original and fits properly. Designer Attribution Produced during the tenure of Wayne Husted, Blenko’s lead designer from 1952–1963, whose work helped define the company’s iconic Mid-Century aesthetic. While not individually signed, this model is consistent with documented Blenko catalog forms from the Husted era. About Blenko Glass Company Founded in 1893 in West Virginia, Blenko Glass Company is one of America’s most important studio glass producers. Known for its vibrant colors, bold forms, and commitment to hand-blown techniques, Blenko became a defining force in Mid-Century Modern design. Their work is celebrated for its balance of functional design and sculptural presence.
