Pair of Murano art glass vases created in an intense red and white palette using traditional Venetian filigree techniques related to reticello, latticino and a canne glasswork.
The set consists of two complementary forms: one tall and slender, with a strong vertical presence, and another with a rounded body and a more compact sculptural silhouette. Their different proportions create an engaging visual dialogue in which each vase retains its individuality while contributing to a unified composition.
The white pattern is integrated into the structure of the glass, creating a geometric design that contrasts with the intensity of the red. This decoration belongs to one of the most refined traditions of Venetian glassmaking: the use of filaments, canes and layers of glass incorporated during the hot-working process to produce lines, nets and effects of depth without relying on surface painting.
The reticello technique, historically associated with Murano, is characterized by a regular network of intersecting lines. Latticino incorporates opaque or milky white glass in filament form, while a canne glasswork uses previously prepared glass rods that are grouped, fused and transformed into the final body of the object. These techniques require precision, coordination and exceptional control of temperature and movement.
The red and white palette creates a strong decorative contrast: red brings energy, warmth and depth, while white introduces rhythm, luminosity and graphic definition. The result is an expressive set capable of bringing color and personality to an interior while maintaining an elegant presence.
The pieces contain clear references to the world of mid-century Murano art glass, particularly the filigree, reticello and latticino traditions developed by Venetian workshops and houses such as Aureliano Toso, Fratelli Toso, Gambaro e Poggi...
