About the Item

This vintage majolica leaf and blossom plate presents a round, gently undulating silhouette, with a softly scalloped rim and a shallow, dished well. Crafted from ceramic in the Victorian majolica tradition, the surface is molded in bold relief and glazed in a luminous, saturated turquoise that glows with a glassy depth. A large grape leaf in deep emerald green anchors the composition, its finely incised veins and netlike, crackled texture rendered with botanical precision and a mossy brown shading along one edge. Around it, clusters of plump lavender grapes and smaller pale green grapes hang among rust-brown and apple-green leaves, while creamy white blossoms with golden centers and tiny strawberries in blush and cream nestle between the foliage. Curling tendrils in silvery gray wind across the ground, adding delicate linear movement. The rim is finished in a thin, honeyed brown glaze that frames the vivid palette. The relief is crisp and tactile, and the colors remain bright and well preserved. Lush, exuberant, and full of orchard charm, the plate feels like a harvest still life glazed in jewel tones. Display this plate on a wall as a colorful accent, in a plate rack or on a stand on a sideboard, or use it as a decorative dessert plate on a dining table. It complements Victorian, Cottage, Grandmillennial, English Country, and Coastal interiors. To care for it, hand wash gently with mild soap and warm water, avoid soaking, dishwashers, and sudden temperature changes, and dry thoroughly to protect the glaze; it is best suited to display or light dry use. The plate measures 8.75 inches (222 mm) wide, 8.75 inches (222 mm) deep, and 1 inch (25 mm) high. Condition is very good, with a vibrant glaze, minor wear consistent with age, bright colors, and no visible chips or cracks. Add this striking antique to your collection today.
