About the Item

Blue Swirls Helios Lamp by Zoran Strijbosch Handmade Dimensions: Base: D 9 x W 9 H 15 cm Sphere: D 10.5 x W 10.5 x H 25 cm Materials: Aluminum, acrylic. In ancient times, Helios was revered as the god of the sun, entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the sun on its daily journey across the sky. As he embarked upon an eternal voyage in his majestic golden chariot, coursing through the heavens, his chariot painted the sky with a mesmerizing palette of colorful and delicate hues. This breathtaking spectacle had the remarkable power to transform the heavenly sky, casting a radiant and enchanting glow upon the world below. Drawing from ancient concepts, “Helios” pays homage to light’s circular dance. This design invites interaction, allowing you to play with light’s intensity by moving the sphere. Just as Helios shaped the sun’s path, you become the one who controls the brightness, creating a captivating dance of light. The objective was to craft a lamp that seamlessly blended elegance with a touch of playfulness, while delivering uniform and spherical light—an endeavor made challenging by the precise casting required. To address this challenge, we combined different materials, aluminum, and acrylic, in the lamp’s construction. Importantly, the spherical component can even be crafted from recycled waste materials, emphasizing our commitment to sustainability and innovative design. Helios, an electric lamp, draws inspiration from ancient myths. Crafted with a solid aluminum base (CNC milled then polished by hand) and a hand-casted acrylic sphere, it encourages users to adjust light intensity. Each hand-crafted casting results in shapes and patterns as unique and unpredictable as the celestial realm. Importantly, the spherical component can even be crafted from recycled waste materials. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. Studio Zoran Strijbosch emerges from an unwavering passion for the fusion of (Art) history and Design. In a world often preoccupied with efficiency and the future, Our studio’s mission is to craft products that beckon those who yearn to step back in time. Through our commitment to high-quality, handcrafted industrial design, we draw inspiration from the past, offering a bridge between the past and the present. As a designer primarily focused on lighting design, I have a profound love for incorporating craftsmanship and analog movements into my work, infusing each design with a sense of nostalgia and tactile engagement. Inviting users to interact with them in a more intimate and tactile way. At Studio Zoran Strijbosch, we believe that design is not just about a product; it’s about creating immersive experiences that transport people to another time and place. By integrating these stories of the past into our designs, we invite our clients to embark on a journey through time, where every flicker of light and subtle shift in movement tells a story of craftsmanship and innovation.
