About the Item

Dimensions: height 18.50 in; diameter 10.63 in; base diameter 4.72 in (H 47 cm × Ø 27 cm; base Ø 12 cm). A light bulb turned into a lamp: this 1970s Delmas design plays with scale and brings humor to an everyday object. Its oversized white opaline glass shade and chrome-plated base echo the two parts of a bulb, creating a rounded silhouette with no unnecessary ornament. The opaline glass is central to its appeal. Unlit, its rich white surface contrasts with the reflective metal. Illuminated, it becomes a glowing volume that softens the light. The design holds its interest in both states, with a shape that is recognizable at a glance. Based in Montauban, France, Delmas manufactured and sold lighting. This lamp offers a glimpse of the broader French lighting industry of the period, which included regional manufacturers alongside the better-known Parisian houses. The label beneath the base retains a double-D monogram and model reference 7725. The generous proportions and playful concept capture the freedom of 1970s design. Its appeal comes from one clear idea, carried through with conviction: making the bulb itself the subject of the lamp.
