Swiss teak and brass table lamp by Temde Leuchten with decorative shade, 1950s. A beautifully composed mid-century modern table lamp produced by Temde Leuchten, Switzerland, circa 1950s. Executed in warm teak with brass detailing, the lamp features Temde’s elegant curved arm rising from a sculptural domed base, retaining what we believe to be its original conical shade with an abstract decorative pattern that softly diffuses the light. The design embodies the quiet sophistication for which Temde became known — combining organic materials with refined brass detailing and restrained modernist form. The elegant silhouette, warm timber tones and sculptural profile make this an ideal desk lamp, bedside lamp or atmospheric accent within a living room or study. The beautifully veneered base and tapered column reveal a strong architectural sensibility, while the shade creates a warm, ambient glow when illuminated. We believe the original shade to be formed from an early acrylic or polymer material, characteristic of experimental mid-century lighting design. In keeping with the preservation of the original shade, we would strongly recommend the use of a modern cool-running LED bulb. Produced in Switzerland during the golden age of European modern lighting, Temde lamps of this quality are increasingly sought after for their sculptural simplicity and timeless appeal. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with age. Minor wear to brass and timber, commensurate with age and use.
