About the Item

An elegant Italian dressing table or vanity mirror dating from the second half of the 19th century, crafted from walnut and adorned with finely carved decorative details. The substantial architectural frame features a tall, sculpted crest crowned by a carved acanthus motif, molded profiles, symmetrical foliate scrolls, and two turned urn-shaped finials. At the base, two protruding side platforms feature small drawers, perfect for jewelry, personal accessories, or small toiletries. The warm walnut grain, imposing proportions, and elaborate ornamentation reflect the Italian Historicist tradition, combining Baroque Revival and Renaissance Revival influences. The mirror has a strong decorative presence and can be used either as a dressing mirror, above a mantelpiece, in an entryway, bedroom, or dressing room, or as a statement piece in a sophisticated contemporary interior. The reverse side still bears an original paper label from Cucchi e Sola Ammobigliamenti, Via Andrea Provana, Turin. Archival records document the Turin-based company from 1923 to 1955. The label therefore indicates that this early 19th-century mirror was subsequently sold, restored, or incorporated into an interior design project by Cucchi & Sola during the first half of the 20th century; it should not be interpreted as proof that the company originally manufactured it. Wear consistent with age and use. There are minor marks, surface variations, small scratches, and signs of previous use, all of which contribute to its authentic antique character. The historic Cucchi & Sola paper label is still preserved on the back. Dimensions Width: 125 cm Height: 135 cm Depth: 23 cm Provenance Antiques dealer, Asolo, Veneto, Italy.
