About the Item

A rare and highly decorative British Art Deco folding garden lounger, distinguished by its striking sunray design and substantial solid hardwood construction. The chair features a tall fan-shaped back composed of radiating wooden slats, a motif repeated across the extended footrest to create a particularly attractive and cohesive Art Deco composition. Sweeping arms and clean geometric lines further emphasise its elegant period character. Designed for both comfort and practicality, the lounger incorporates a generous reclining form with an integrated footrest and folds neatly for easier storage when not in use. Its substantial weight, sturdy construction and quality joinery reflect the craftsmanship of traditional British outdoor furniture. Finished in a softly aged cream-painted surface, the chair has an appealing vintage character that would sit beautifully within a garden, conservatory, terrace or poolside setting. An unusual surviving example of early 20th-century leisure furniture, combining practical folding construction with the glamour and geometric styling of the Art Deco period.
