Splendid and rare original bamboo lounge set from the 1950s, consisting of two armchairs and a coffee table, designed by Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol. Black lacquered metal frame, expertly crafted bamboo, with a side section that lifts to form an armrest. This rare and iconic lounge set, dating back to the 1950s, represents a pinnacle of mid-century French design that embraces the "back to nature" philosophy. Composed of two majestic sculptural armchairs and a matching coffee table, it is the result of a collaboration between designers Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol, pioneers in the use of natural materials such as bamboo and rattan in a modernist context. The set perfectly embodies the synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and architectural elegance. The armchairs feature a bold supporting structure of large-diameter bamboo canes, shaped and curved to form fluid, continuous lines that define an enveloping silhouette reminiscent of a shell or basket.
