About the Item

A striking 1940s French Art Deco Brutalist oak sideboard in the style of Charles Dudouyt, sourced in Moulins, in the historic Bourbonnais region of central France. The sideboard has been structurally revised, carefully cleaned, and polished with wax, preserving the rich, warm tones and pronounced natural grain of the oak. Its substantial three-door facade is distinguished by oversized circular medallions, each featuring concentric carved rings surrounding a deeply sculpted floral rosette. The bold geometric composition reflects the transition between French Art Deco and rustic modernism, characteristic of furniture associated with Charles Dudouyt. Decorative iron escutcheons with fleur-de-lis-inspired detailing complement the sculptural woodwork, while distinctive block feet with repeated arched cutouts anchor the cabinet's architectural silhouette. The rectangular top features a raised central panel framed by a broad border, complemented by traditional paneled sides. Behind the three doors, the interior offers generous storage across three compartments with shelving, lined in cream and gold floral damask-patterned fabric. Its substantial proportions make it well suited for use as a dining room sideboard, living room credenza, or statement storage cabinet. Three keys are included; the left door retains a functioning lock, while the remaining two keys are decorative. - Origin: Moulins, Bourbonnais, France - Period: 1940s - Materials: Oak, Iron Hardware, Fabric Interior Lining - Dimensions: W 89.38" x D 21" x H 37.63" - Condition: Structurally revised, cleaned, and polished with wax.
