About the Item

A characterful antique Spanish pay table dating from around 1700, featuring a beautifully aged wooden surface with a rich, warm patina. The table is distinguished by its traditional sliding top, which reveals a practical storage compartment beneath, as well as an additional drawer. Its robust construction, simple proportions and wonderfully timeworn surface are characteristic of early Spanish provincial furniture. Centuries of use have given the wood an attractive natural patina, with visible wear, marks and irregularities that contribute to the authentic character of the piece. Originally designed as a functional table, today it makes a highly decorative and versatile piece of furniture. It could be used as a side table, console table or statement piece in both traditional and contemporary interiors. A beautiful example of early 18th-century Spanish furniture with a strong sculptural presence.
