About the Item

Brutalist Tripod Coffee Tables, Solid Hardwood, France, 1960s. This pair of tripod coffee tables is built from thick slabs of solid hardwood, each top measuring roughly 8.5 cm in depth and carried on three tapered angled legs. The free-form tops follow the natural edge of the wood, with organic silhouettes and a rich grain that reads across the surface in tones of amber, chestnut and grey. The tripod bases give the tables a grounded, architectural stance while keeping the composition light beneath the heavy slabs. Deep fissures, filled cracks and a glossy varnished finish emphasize the raw material character typical of Brutalist studio work. Sold as an indivisible pair, these coffee tables pair rustic presence with sculptural proportions. Good vintage condition. Minor surface marks and wear consistent with age and use, including varnish wear, old insect traces and traces of paint.
