About the Item

The Mikado Collection is inspired by the game "Pick a Stick" we used to play in childhood. Tubes of thick brass, which remind us of the Mikado sticks game, are cut at precise angles and fitted with great accuracy in the furniture, providing much-needed support. Each tube can hold a flower, making this console table even more surprising and unique. The Console Table is designed as an entryway table. Its form is light and fluid, with the tabletop appearing to float over the finely crafted legs. Many consider this piece a work of art, like a sculpture. The listed piece is mastercrafted of carefully selected ebony macassar wood, black lacquered wood, and handmade brushed brass. However, we can also manufacture this table in customised options. Structure: Stainless steel (polished or brushed); brass (polished or brushed); or copper (polished or brushed). The polished or brushed finish is handmade by the author. Tabletop: Another kind of wood (walnut, tineo, black oak, ironwood) or lacquer colour. Custom dimensions are only available after analysis. In all its versions, the console houses two discrete drawers in a different wood veneer, which adds a surprising touch. Needs simple assembly. You can try this piece in your space using Augmented Reality on your mobile phone (available on our website, Mikado Collection). In 2018, it won a "Silver A' Design Award" in the "Furniture, Decorative Items, and Homeware Design" category. This piece is entirely made in Portugal and manufactured artisanally. The author carefully executed or supervised every process step in a small workshop context. Labour of love from Portugal. Designer/Author - João Faria/Emotional Objects. Manufacturer - João Faria/Emotional Objects. At Emotional Objects, we don't follow trends or fashion. Instead, we create distinct and timeless objects with solid ideas and concepts. Every Emotional Object has a meaningful story behind it. Made to last for generations, we proudly see our objects as future furniture classics that will stand the test of time. Working in Portugal with the best artisans, the distinction between functional and fine art is difficult to find in Joao Faria's work. He uses the finest materials and techniques, but, most importantly, he only makes pieces he would want for himself. Art Furniture, Unique, Tailored, Emotional, Truly Yours.
