About the Item

A stone oval side table serving as accent table is hand-carved from solid stone with an openwork jali-lattice apron. The piece unites the ancient tradition of stone jali carving with a refined oval tabletop form. Works equally as side table, end table, accent table, or occasional table. The jali apron is pierced by hand, a process requiring the carver to remove material in precise geometric intervals. The tabletop sits above, polished to a smooth finish. The form integrates naturally into Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, and Contemporary interiors. The oval tabletop sits above a jali apron that dissolves the visual mass of the lower section into geometric openwork. The polished stone top reflects light cleanly, while the pierced apron below creates shadow depth. The oval plan softens the geometry of the lattice. Each Jour Jali Oval Table is hand-carved from a single block of White Marble. The apron is pierced using traditional jali technique — a geometric openwork method originating in Rajasthani stone architecture. The tabletop is polished smooth, contrasting with the intricate lattice below. Available in four sizes: 17×8×18 inches, 16×8×16 inches, 20×8×18 inches, and 25×10×18 inches. Available in Agate, White Marble, Green Marble, and Black Marble. Each piece is made to order and will vary slightly in natural stone patterning. Designed by Paul Mathieu for the Stephanie Odegard Collection. The Jour Jali Oval Table applies architectural jali carving — historically used in Rajput palace screens and window grilles — to a refined furniture form. Produced in Rajasthan by workshops specializing in stone carving and jali technique. Customization is at the heart of what we do. Custom sizes, finishes, and bespoke designs are available upon request. Whether you are working from a sketch, technical drawing, reference image, or an initial concept, our team would be delighted to collaborate with you and help bring your vision to life. Made to order, each piece may show slight variations that are a natural result of handmade production in stone. Every block of marble or stone is unique, so colour, veining, and surface character will vary from piece to piece. The images shown in this listing may be photographed in different lighting conditions or may include illustrations created to represent the available stone options. We warmly encourage customers to request an individual sample or a complete sample set to experience the colour, tone, and character of each stone firsthand. None of our marble work is treated with an added finish, which allows the marble or stone to age naturally over time. If required, pieces can be coated with a suitable protective layer to help preserve their original look. Marble is somewhat like glass in that it is strong and long lasting when handled properly but can chip if mishandled. Pieces must never be rolled, pulled, pushed, or slid across any surface. All stone table tops and surfaces that come into contact with oily liquids or food are subject to permanent staining. Our solid marble pieces are durable and withstand typical weather conditions including high heat, rain, and freezing. Intricately carved or inlaid marble may be more vulnerable to extreme temperatures and freeze thaw cycles. Like any natural material, marble can be affected by acid rain and pollution over time. Natural stones may carry hidden variations that only appear during processing. Marble can have unexpected veining, sandstone may contain cavities, and even uniform slabs can have varying porosity that affects polish. While we select our materials carefully, a flawless stone cannot be guaranteed, and this natural variation is part of the character of every piece.
