About the Item

Four-piece porcelain set designed by Dorothy Hafner for Rosenthal Studio-Line, comprising two vases and two triangular candleholders. Each piece features Hafner’s “Flash” pattern, with black geometric lines and vivid colour blocks against an ivory ground. Designed in 1982 and introduced by Rosenthal in 1984, “Flash” became one of the company’s defining Postmodern patterns. Its energetic geometry and strong colour contrasts reflect the visual language of the Memphis era while remaining distinctly Hafner’s own. Examples are held by the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and the National Gallery of Victoria. The pieces work well as a coordinated table or sideboard display and can also be placed separately to repeat the same graphic accents throughout a room. Dimensions - Tall vase: H 23 × W 13 × D 13 cm (H 9.06 × W 5.12 × D 5.12 in) - Smaller vase: H 19 × W 11 × D 11 cm (H 7.48 × W 4.33 × D 4.33 in) - Candleholders, each: H 4.5 × W 7.5 × D 7.5 cm (H 1.77 × W 2.95 × D 2.95 in)
