About the Item

African Senufo Stool, Carved Hardwood, Ivory Coast, Mid-20th Century. Carved from a single block of dense hardwood, this Senufo stool rests on four tapered legs splayed from a solid drum-form seat. The circular top shows a rich reddish-brown patina developed through long use, with a natural age crack radiating across the surface. The architectural silhouette pairs a heavy rounded seat with columnar legs, giving the stool sculptural weight while remaining low and grounded. The carved hardwood retains tool marks along the legs and a deep hand-rubbed finish that reflects light across the seat. This African stool works as a side table or accent piece within contemporary and collected interiors. Good vintage condition. Age crack to the seat, minor surface marks, chips and wear consistent with age and use.
